The Crossing Guard Drive
Every August, before he puts the pads back on, Nick Cross heads home to DC for the one that means as much to him as any game day: the backpack drive. Hundreds of bags get loaded up with everything a kid needs for day one — notebooks, folders, pencils, the whole list.
Nick still remembers what it felt like to walk in that first morning ready to go, nothing missing. Every kid deserves that feeling. When they walk out with a full backpack and a big smile, that is the whole thing right there.

Christmas With Cross
Come December he does it again, but this one is all about the holidays. Nick takes a group of kids on a shopping spree and covers gifts for them and for their families. No stress, no worrying about what it costs — just a day to be a kid.
Watching them pick out something for their little brother or their mom before they grab a single thing for themselves gets him every time. That is the DMV he knows.

Turkeys From Cross
Nick and his team roll up their sleeves for the turkey drive, making sure families across the DMV have everything they need for a full Thanksgiving table. Turkeys, sides, all the fixings — enough to feed the whole house.
Nobody should have to wonder where their holiday meal is coming from. Handing a family their turkey and seeing the weight come off their shoulders is what this day is all about.
This is home, and taking care of his people around the holidays is a tradition Nick plans to keep going for a long time.
